Pine grosbeak, Kabli bird station 24.10.2012
I was rambling on the south-western coast for half a day. No-one in particular was to be seen but at Kabli bird station the
pine grosbeaks (
Pinicola enucleator) ringed yesterday were still in place. The birds were quite bold and let themselves be studied from a distance of a few metres. Over the last few days pine grosbeaks have been seen in several places here. Reports from Finland tell that this may even be the largest invasion of recent decades. Evidently they will be found all over Estonia during this autumn and winter. For me the pine grosbeak is the
272nd bird species in my 2012 year list.
