The amazingly fast developing and inquisitive young buzzards are doing climbing as well as flying exercises. For the young and still inexperienced birds such daring might yet be hazardous during the next month.
In the video we see how the young birds appear in the nest when they notice an adult with prey nearby. Around the nest the constantly hungry young birds can be quite loud-voiced. The adult has some trouble with getting away from the young birds fighting for the prey.
Adults hunting for prey have become more noticeable too. Travellers on the roads can catch sight of them perching on silo balls – excellent places to sit in wait for rodents, in all kinds of agricultural lands: hayfields and a little later grain fields.
There are around 6000-7000 breeding buzzard pairs in Estonian forests.

The camera shows a rather empty nest, the young buzzards clamber around in the nest tree branches and nearby trees, and they are already busy with flying exercises….
