Stone bramble

Stone bramble     Lillakas      Rubus saxatilis

The stone bramble’s leaves are similar to the leaves of the cloudberry but the cloudberry plants are quite a bit smaller. The creeping stems of the stone bramble are not lignified and easily set roots; they have small spines on the stem. The stone bramble is spread over all Estonia.

The pretty red berries are edible – the seed is large and the juicy flesh thin. If you find a thicket of stone bramble you can suck on the sourish berry flesh around the seed, there are a number of valuable substances in it, but you will soon have had your fill of them.
