Christmas angels, little Tom Thumbs – all slip by ...

How do we imagine fairies – pretty young maidens with curling hair, in snow white clothes and with magic wands? And päkapikud, the ”Tom Thumbs” – do they just go about hiding treats in slippers?
The magic wishing table of our forest inhabitants is a somewhat more commonplace arrangement. We estimate that the wild boars, large and small, can be nearly thirty some evenings, roe deer are ten individuals or fewer in all, in addition passerines and somewhat bigger birds. A couple of buckets of food are brought to the feeding ground every day: wheat and peas, potatoes and apples and acorns – altogether about 15 kilos. Mait Siimson divides the extra food in small piles, it makes for more peaceful behaviour among the animals.
As in previous years all the Tom Thumbs of the Ilmatsalu kindergarten gathered acorns for the animals this autumn, and it was a truly remarkable harvest, even in the current good acorn year. A hundred little nature friends gathered more than one ton of acorn treats for the forest inhabitants.
Many thanks to all who care!
