Tree sparrows and yellowhammers on the roadside
The picture speaks for itself, when yellow colour flashes from birds taking flight, there are probably yellowhammers, who often move around and feed with the tree sparrows together in the same communities.
They are everyday visitors in the wild boar camera view. Similar in their size, but the yellowhammers’ tail is a bit longer.
Yellowhammer
Yellowhammers are peaceful in their behaviour, a bit clumsy and aren’t afraid of humans. A little squabbling in the flock is common in their lifestyle.
The male’s head and underparts are yellow. The brownish coloured female and juveniles are duller and they have very little yellow in their feathers.
Although a large part of the birds nesting here migrate to the south, the winter population still remains about the same size, even grows on account of the travellers from north-east and east – about three hundred thousand birds.
Tree sparrow
Compared to house sparrows, the tree sparrows are clean, „smoothed up“ and with a bit brighter plumage. All tree sparrows have the similar plumage, only the black patch on juveniles’ cheeks is brighter.
