Morning badger

Badger in front of the burrow, at 8.49 in the morning

The badger pair are busy in badger rhythm, as they are used to in free nature without interferences.

The camera has been showing a direct stream view of the badger den from May 14th onwards – a little less than 2 months. Based on what we have seen, we now know that beavers are busy animals and do not bask outside the den neither  in sunshine nor moonshine, and they are not seen often. During this time the beaver pair has tidied their den, scraping out soil from there, and bringing in dry insulation materials. They have been seen mating outside the den. But usually they can be seen on entering the castle, and going out from there, quickly and with a firm goal. During the operation of the badger camera, deer and elks have walked past behind the den and once a raccoon dog came to inspect the burrows.

The Saaremaa radio “Kadi” in a live transmission suggested Kadi as name for the female badger. It is indeed a nice name for a badger who lives in Saaremaa. So we have the badgers Kadi and …  Maybe somebody has an idea?
