This year it is possible to take part in several birdwatching activities. Summery weather invites one to get out in nature and web applications make it very easy to enter one’s observations and see and read the observations of other bird friends.

In our inland waters there is enough water for water hikers thanks to the rains of the last month and it is an exciting time for river bird monitoring.

It is the year of the kingfisher – 2014. There are already quite many bservations of this beautiful bird. People moving about on rivers can add data necessary for ornithologists:

This year has not favoured the nesting of swallows – cold weather and a dearth of insects … The goal of this long-term survey is to follow changes in the numbers and nesting outcome of barn swallows and house martins – help us, and share your knowledge of the swallows at your home.
