The observations can be made in your home yard – be it then in the city or the holiday country home. You know your home grounds and can understand more clearly what is happening in nature.
White stork nest
It goes well for the white storks this year, there is information from quite many sources about four-chick clutches. Usually two or three chicks fledge for white storks. This is a long-term monitoring project. In Estonia the number of white storks has increased, currently 4000 to 5000 pairs are thought to nest here. The results of this year’s census will clarify how many of them we really have. Already now, 1600 white stork nest locations have been entered by way of the very simple web application.

Swallows
Through the ”Suvine aialinnupäevik (Summer garden bird diary)" we can follow the annual changes in distribution and nesting success of ten garden birds; keeping a garden bird diary is simple and manageable for everyone.
Some garden birds such as tits, finches, thrushes and the robin have already reached their second nesting. Some house sparrows may even start the hatching of a third clutch. So it is worthwhile even during the July holidays to keep a garden bird diary even in the country home.
The garden bird diary and identification aids are on the web page:
