We now hear the calls of the deer bulls (stags) quite rarely, late in evenings, in early night or in morning dusk. We have already been seeing the deer cows for a couple of days in the webcam and they move singly or in pairs. During the mating period the large breeding bulls who are at least 6 yeers old, keep their “harems” together. Deer cows become sexually mature in their third year and the gestation period lasts up to 35 weeks – so from the end of May the female deers of Saaremaa can expect offspring.

A few days ago the deer cows were seen for the first time moving alone.
