On Monday night a little past seven o’clock the female stork showed the just hatched stork chick.

Before Mother’s day we discussed just these matters.

We had no certain dates to calculate the expected hatching from. The female laid 4 eggs - which is a common clutch size – on April 7, 9, 11 and 13.

On April 24 a white-tailed eagle destroyed two eggs in the nest; which ones were left – who knows.  The recorded videos provide an overview: LINK

Both adults incubate. In the last few days they have brought substantial amounts of moss to the nest. As the video shows, the nest bottom needs drainage so that life does not become too watery. The rains of recent weeks have turned the nest bottom wet.

Interesting to see at what interval the next chick will hatch?
