There is no lack of food in this household, rather there is quite a number of uneaten fish hidden on the nest bottom and covered with new matter. Day by day the young eagle-to-be is left alone in the nest for ever longer periods. The young bird studies the world around with obvious interest. Of course it is nice to be fed by the parents but quite soon the chick will have to cope on its own.
A little before one month of age eagle chicks begin to practice standing up, and to start with the wings are used for keeping balance.
