White stork nest
Hello, all white stork friends!
The white storks have quite large chicks in their nests by now, and it is a good time to count them. Last year a web-based map application was created by which it is easy to plot new nests on the map and to add results of the nesting to the nest data. The white stork nest site map application will continue to work, and it is at the following address: LINK
So I ask all bird friends to please add nesting results and new nest datathis year too directly via the web application .
NB! On inserting a new nest please be sure to check first whether the nest has been entered on the map already. Finding and deleting multiple registrations caused much work last year. And on entering a new nest, please be as exact as possible. The map can be considerably enlarged, and in its photo version even very small details are visible, and the nest can be marked in the correct spot with great precision.
Even a mistake by only tens of meters can cause much confusion in areas with large white stork populations where there may be several nests in one courtyard. If you cannot remember the precise position of the nest, please check again and enter it only then!
Apologies to those who use older Internet Explorer versions as browser in their computers: the map application does not work correctly with those, and data cannot be entered.
Wishing all a beautiful summer!
