Healing herb flowers - tormentil

Tormentil.

The tormentil (Potentilla erecta) can well be planted in a garden bed because of its long and abundant flowering – from June to September. And it certainly belongs to the “garden pharmacy”, or at least to our grandmothers’ home pharmacy. It is an undemanding plant with regard to growing conditions, and its rhizome helps against many ills: just to mention a few, sores and problems of mucous membranes in the mouth, and liver problems. If there is no tormentil in your garden then go out and look where it flowers now in your neighbourhood, so that you can dig up the rhizome  in autumn, and chop it up and dry it for use as tea, before the time of infections starts.
