Scented mayweed or German chamomile.
The scented mayweed or German chamomile (Chamomilla recutita) must be picked at just the right time: it should be gathered when the white ray florets around the yellow head of disk florets are like sunrays, but before the head of disk florets has changed into a conical shape. In sunlit places the white ray-florets already droop downwards, in shadier locations it can still be picked. Chamomile is generally grown in gardens, sometimes it is encountered as a garden fugitive at road verges. It should not be confused with the pineapple weed that only has greenish-yellow disk florets in conical heads.
