Shell halves at Tahkuna beach.
All know the dark, oblong-shaped shell halves with a bluish sheen. But many don’t know that the common or blue mussels are edible, quite as their Estonian and Latin names say: söödav rannakarp, Mytilus edulis. Most of us have bought mussels in shops, only the contents of those cans were caught somewhere else in the world: here the mussel doesn’t grow very big.
