Buzzard.
Our most common bird of prey, but with various colour changes during its lifetime, and that makes identification more difficult. Female birds are clearly larger. The beak and talons of the buzzard are black and the feet and ceres yellow. In flight the bird can be recognized from its white-patterned rounded wings, lifted in a V shape. Juveniles and adults are generally similar, only the juveniles’ underparts generally lack the horizontal stripes, but on the breast and belly there may be dark lengthwise stripes and the light edging on the feathers is noticeable. In September-October buzzards move towards south and at times large gatherings can be seen in northwestern Estonia, for instance on Osmussaar island.
