Tõnn has arrived in his winter quarters

In the afternoon of October 1 Tõnn reached his last year's winter quarters in Spain. His winter place is the El Hondo wetlands which belong to the most important bird life areas (IBAs) of the European Union.
 
That our greater spotted eagle spends the winter there only adds to the nature conservation values of the area since this species is seen in Spain only a few times in a year.
Last year Tõnn stayed the whole winter (December 11 – April 13) in El Hondo. The winter was quite peaceful for Tõnn then, because the landowners closed off the entrances to the wetland, and so hunters couldn’t go there for partridge shooting. We will see how things turn out this year … Tõnn obviously likes the place
