Today the brown roll-rim counts to the poisonous mushroom species. Sensitivity to the roll-rim poisons varies widely between different individuals. According to scientific investigations the ill effects of the roll-rim are tied to “civilisation illnesses” (e g food allergy) and changes in its growing places.
Twenty-five years ago the roll-rim was edible according to the mushroom books, but it wasn’t any culinary sensation. In the woods the roll-rim colonies are quite picturesque, so they can be left for the eyes to enjoy.
