A Happy New Year to all bird friends!
 
One year ago Estonian twitchers founded a new organisation – Estbirding, where also Rariliin, an information system based on brief telephone messages, was started. Thanks to Rariliin info about exciting sightings quickly reaches many bird watchers, and for many really spectacular rarities ten or more twitchers have arrived within an hour or two to see the bird. Thanks to this many sightings have been much more thoroughly documented than earlier and the work of the Bird Rarities Committee has become easier.
Last year (actually 11 months, from February to December) 160 messages (67 species) were forwarded through Rariliin.
