Barberry.
The barberry, known as the "Barbarissa sweet tree” – from the sweets that used to made from its fruits - has its flower clusters ready to open, but for now it is instead worthwhile to look for its leaves: they are edible. They taste sourish, like sorrel or wood sorrel leaves. Towards summer the leaves turn leathery and not so good to eat, but just now they are tender and very nice, with a not too acid taste. The leaves grow in bunches so it is easy to pick your hands full.
