Wagtail
Wagtail | Linavästrik |
They are always where there is melted water at the edge of ice, even the smallest amount, and so where it is most likely to find something edible. There are still few of them here but they have been seen in several places. People of old held the tail-dipping of the wagtail to be for crushing frozen water – breaking ice – and in a week probably the floods begin. Until now the river waters keep nicely to their beds and despite the large amount of snow it should not come to terrible floods this year.
Soomaa has a "fifth season“ every year.
