Early viewers this weekend got to follow the activity of a Lesser Spotted Eagle sleeping in. Both Saturday and Sunday mornings the mother bird slept late, as if she'd spent the night at the local discotheque. Sunday, she spent an hour and a half doing nothing, most of the time with her head hidden under her wing…
This is unlikely to mean late egg-laying, but it's at least something to watch! On Sunday, the mother bird visited the nest another two times during the day.
Eagle enthusiasts in the USA and Canada have opened a discussion thread about our Lesser Spotted Eagles on the Hancock Wildlife Channel's forum at http://discuss.hancockwildlifechannel.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2726. It's a nice opportunity for our English-speaking viewers to trade thoughts and opinions.
Their forum is rather large and it's easy to get lost, but the link above will always carry you back to the Estonian eagles. Forums like the Hancock Channel's are a great help in getting the word out about the more exciting moments of life in the eagles' nest.
