Since our camera resolution didn't enable us to read the code on the boyfriend's leg, we installed a blind about 80 meters from the nest. He happily posed for our photographer in the blind—perhaps out of respect for science—since our German colleagues were already arguing he was of Polish origin!
But it turns out that the boyfriend is a local—from the western parts of Harjumaa, born near Padise in 2001. The band on his leg (green 76M) is incorrectly placed, and so we'll have to come up with a suitable punishment for the one who placed it there (this author!).
It's recorded that a year later from the same nest two chicks flew to Gotland, which is the Northwesternmost nest in the black stork network.
Donna's mate is pictured in the photo. He needs a name. What should it be?
