No doubt about it, ravens are observant, all that happens in the forest is known to them. Both parents guarded the storklets in turns until Sunday, training the young to be alone, standing on a branch close by but still in sight.
As soon as the adults were gone the raven appeared. It did probably not come to ”spook” the storklets in the nest, by now it cannot overpower them…

Even before becoming a month old the storklets already stand quite firmly on their feet and it is around this time that the adults dare leave them alone in the nest – the need of food of the young now increases noticeably and both parents have to be busy with fishing. In calm weather the rippling of the creek can be heard near the nest tree. Of course the young need food but the adults must be properly nourished too before the start of the migration.
