Compared to honey bees, these social insects have long been poorly researched, although they're at home in temperate regions throughout the Northern Hemisphere and South America. A few tropical species form colonies lasting several years, but elsewhere only the summer's new Queens survive into next spring. So the colonies remain small - around 80 individuals rather than tens of thousands - and there is no need to store nectar for hibernation - a fact that has kept honey-loving gourmets like us away from their - often underground - nests.

The megamouth shark is a recently discovered species of deep-sea shark. Prehistoric "living fossil" sharks also lurk in the bay. Four years of studying and filming aim to shed light on the mysterious world of deep-sea sharks. For the investigation, a sperm whale carcass was placed at the bottom of the bay to attract these sharks. They were observed from submersible vessels and their previously unknown behavior has been captured on film.

While conducting the LIFE Project "Greater Spotted Eagle – a bird like no other!" we have created a film about those rarest eagles and a man, who has devoted his life to save them. There are only 10, 15 breeding pairs of these eagles in Poland, all of them in the Biebrza Valley in North-East Poland where most of the film was shot. The story opens with beautiful Spring spectacle, takes the audience through all four seasons of the year at the Biebrza Valley but also follows Greater Spotted Eagles to Greece, touching upon the threats of the migrating birds.

FUTURE BEHIND YOU
The area of the Kunene river is the territory of the semi-nomadic Himba tribe. At the same time this river forms the natural border between Namibia and Angola. Chief of the Tribe Hyndere and his family depend on the Kunene. Their cattle feeds on the border, they grow their crops there and bury the deceased. Together Angola and Namibia decided to build a dam in the Kunene to provide the area in electricity. According to their own statements at the location where it will do the least damage to the surroundings. Hyndere however is not confident. He is afraid that traditions will be lost and he even fears the end of his Himba tribe.

SNOWS OF THE NILE
Uganda’s Rwenzori Mountains rise 5000m from the heart of Africa. At their summits, are some of Earth’s only equatorial glaciers. But these “Mountains of the Moon,” whose existence caused a sensation in Europe when they were first climbed in 1906, are changing fast. Snows of the Nile follows two scientist/photographers on an ambitious expedition to re-capture historical glacier imagery from the Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda. If they could retrace the steps of the Duke of Abruzzi’s legendary 1906 expedition and re-capture the famous glacier photographs taken by Vittorio Sella, they could visualize the impacts of a century of climate change.

We follow one gang of fifteen on their journey to the Chobe River in Botswana. Led by its matriarch, the gang is completely made up of her offspring and it’s her responsibility to get her family safely to the river. Despite all the dangers, the matriarch’s gang makes it. She did her best to protect her offspring.They are her family. And to an elephant, family is everything.
