Cowslip leaves are out

Cowslip.

There is still nearly a month to wait for the flowers, but the pretty, tongue-shaped leaves of the plant are already there on the ground. Although the plant doesn’t look quite familiar yet, you can be sure to find the rather oblong leaves. Surely you remember where you saw cowslips last year, and there its leaves are easy to recognize among the other plants: their underside is covered with soft hairs and they have a quite pale green colour.

Our northern spring vitamin salad is completed with ever more ingredients: now we can cut cowslip leaves into it, in addition to the ground elder and sorrel.
