Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) isn’t for eating, but the specific aromas of some special plants are interesting to be familiar with. When wormwood leaves are only slightly rubbed, a pungent-bitter aroma is released. It reminds of absinth and vermouth, and wormwood is in fact used in them. Wormwood is interesting otherwise too – on the seashore and waste lands it catches the eye with its greyish stems and the silvery grey downy leaves, and its characteristic moth-ball smell.
